Luxury Rehab for Couples: Heal, Recover, Reconnect

Addiction rarely affects just one partner. At Carrara, each of you gets your own treatment plan, run in parallel in the same six-client beach house in Malibu, with couples work layered in where it actually helps.

Do Rehab Centers Take Couples? Carrara Does

Yes, couples can come to Carrara together, and it works because “together” is planned rather than improvised. Each partner receives their own evaluation, individual therapy and medical care, while joint sessions work on the relationship itself, from communication to trust to the roles each of you plays at home. Neither track competes with the other. The setting does part of the work too: a private house is a place two people can do hard things without an audience.

How Does Couples Rehab Work at Carrara?

Luxury rehab for couples, as Carrara runs it, is two individual treatment plans in one house. Here is the order it happens in.

01

One Joint Call

Admissions talks to both of you, together and separately, and answers the blunt logistics: rooms, phones, visits, cost.

02

Two Evaluations

Each partner is assessed separately, including screening for the co-occurring conditions common in dual diagnosis when both partners struggle, because two people never arrive with the same history.

03

Parallel Treatment

Detox where needed, individual therapy and psychiatric care run on separate tracks, inside a program of up to 80 hours of individual 1-on-1 points of client contact per month.

04

Couples Work Where It Helps

Behavioral couples therapy and joint sessions are scheduled when both plans support it, not as a default, and they practice the conflict resolution techniques couples take home.

05

One Aftercare Plan for Two

Written during treatment: shared goals, separate supports, and the boundaries that make home safer than it was.

Who Leads the Couples Work?

Each partner’s use shapes the other’s, and recovery does too, so the relationship is treated as part of the clinical picture. The couples work draws on Nika Kalili, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, whose practice centers on attachment and the patterns people carry into their closest relationships. It runs in a deliberate order: each partner’s own recovery first, the relationship second, because the second doesn’t hold without the first.

What Are the Key Benefits of Couples Rehab?

Recovering side by side changes what each of you brings home, because you practice the new habits in front of the one person who will see them every day.

Mutual Support

You get through the hardest weeks of treatment with each other rather than apart, each with your own therapist behind you.

Better Communication

Joint sessions teach the communication skills that most couples never learned under the weight of addiction.

Trust, Rebuilt Deliberately

Including after infidelity, which is more common in this work than anyone says out loud. Trust is rebuilt on schedule and evidence, not on promises.

One Support System at Home

Treating both of you keeps one plan and one set of boundaries, instead of two recoveries drifting apart on separate timelines.

What If Only One of You Is Ready?

Treatment can start with one partner; it often does. A partner who starts alone changes the system by leaving it, and the willing partner’s stay is protected from the unwilling partner’s chaos.

Admissions can talk through what that looks like, including what family involvement becomes possible later, once there is something steady to involve family in.

Start AnywayOne partner in treatment is not half a solution; it’s the first move that changes the whole board.
Protected SpaceBoundaries around contact are part of the plan, set clinically, not punitively.
The Door Stays OpenThe other partner’s path in is planned for, whether it happens in a month or a year.
Family LaterJoint work begins when both plans support it, and not a day before.

What Should You Expect at a Couples Rehab?

Every couple’s history is different, so the program draws on these pieces in the order your two plans call for. Each has a deeper page.

How to Choose a Luxury Rehab Center for Couples

Most of what separates luxury rehabs is visible from outside, if you know which five questions to ask. Couples who set out to find a luxury rehab that takes them both usually start with the photographs, and the photographs are the least informative thing on any of these sites. Put these five to any of the luxury rehab centers in Malibu, or anywhere else in California, that treat couples for addiction, and compare the answers instead.

A Few More Questions From Couples

Can we share a room?

No. Every client has a room of their own, couples included, so the two of you take two of the six rooms in the house. You are under one roof, on separate plans, each with somewhere private to do the work.

What if one of us relapses during treatment?

It becomes a clinical event with a protocol, for both plans: a relapse prevention response is written before it’s needed, and one partner’s hard week doesn’t automatically end the other’s treatment.

Is couples therapy a substitute for individual treatment?

No. Individual treatment is the spine of residential rehabilitation here; couples work is scheduled where it helps, and never instead of your own therapy.

What does privacy look like for a recognizable couple?

Both of you are inside a six-client census in one private house, your records are handled to HIPAA standards, and the staff have looked after people whose names you would know without those names ever leaving the house.

How do we start?

One call, both of you on it if you want. Carrara’s own admissions team answers, walks you through services and cost, and if a couples admission isn’t the right move for your situation, they’ll say that plainly. Couples come to us from across Los Angeles County and from out of state. Both of you can dial (888) 383-5207 together.

Make One Call, For Both of You

Ask the questions that decide this: rooms, phones, visits, what happens if one of you struggles. You’ll get plain answers from Carrara’s own admissions team, and if a couples admission isn’t right for your situation, we’ll say so and help you find what is.

If this is an emergency, call 911. For free confidential support 24 hours a day, call or text 988.
